❤️ Our April Mission of the Month: La Esperanza Is Bringing Hope to Local Immigrant Families

La Esperanza, our April Mission of the Month, is an outreach program serving first- and second-generation immigrants from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and Chile in Madison, Buncombe, and Yancey counties. Founded in 2015 and hosted by the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, La Esperanza’s mission is to cultivate a vibrant community where Latino families can grow and thrive—empowered by access to education, resources, and friendship.

Currently, La Esperanza is focused on supporting families affected by Hurricane Helene and educating them about current laws and their rights as immigrants. Much of their work has been funded by grants, many of which are now at risk of disappearing.

The ministry includes:

  • social and educational activities for women and children

  • local food sale events to help support families

  • numerous community partnerships such as as the Madison County Racial Justice Coalition

  • Free interpreting/translating services for Latina families, local schools and non-profits

How to Support

You can help by making a financial contribution or volunteering your time and energy. Your support directly benefits families living in fear due to today’s political climate.
